Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 21, 2026  ·  Last updated: May 21, 2026

1. Who We Are

Fandoms ("Fandoms," "we," "us," or "our") operates the platform available at fandoms.app and any related sub-domains or applications (collectively, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information about visitors, creators, and fans who use the Platform.

By accessing or using the Platform you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information — display name, username (handle), email address, and password hash when you create a Fandoms account.
  • Creator profile — profile photo, bio, social links, and any other content you upload to customise your creator site.
  • Communications — messages you send through platform chat, support requests, and beta-feedback submissions.
  • Contact / interest forms — email address and any other details you voluntarily submit through sign-up or interest forms.

2.2 Payment Information

Fandoms does not store payment card numbers, bank account details, or other sensitive financial credentials. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. Stripe collects and stores your payment method details directly and may share transaction-level data (amount, currency, payout status) with us for platform bookkeeping and fraud prevention. By making or receiving payments on the Platform you also agree to Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Creators who enable payouts must complete Stripe Connect identity verification, which involves collecting government-issued ID details, tax identification numbers, and bank account information — all processed and stored exclusively by Stripe under their applicable regulatory obligations.

2.3 Usage and Technical Data

  • IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL.
  • Pages visited, clicks, scroll depth, and session duration.
  • Device identifiers and viewport size.
  • Server logs, error reports, and performance metrics.

2.4 Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and store session state. We may use analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage trends. We do not sell your data to advertising networks or use cross-site tracking cookies. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings without losing core functionality.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account and creator site.
  • To process transactions and facilitate payouts through Stripe.
  • To provide customer support, respond to enquiries, and send service notices.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms.
  • To improve the Platform through analytics and product research.
  • To send you optional marketing emails about Fandoms features or updates — you can opt out at any time.
  • To comply with legal obligations, court orders, or regulatory requirements.

4. How We Share Your Information

4.1 Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party vendors who process it on our behalf — including Stripe (payments), cloud infrastructure providers (hosting, storage, databases), and analytics tools. These vendors are contractually bound to use your data only for the services they provide to us.

4.2 Other Users (Public Profile Data)

Creator handles, display names, profile photos, and published content are visible to all Platform visitors by design. Do not include information in your public profile that you do not wish to be publicly visible.

4.3 Legal and Safety Disclosures

We may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators, or other parties when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, is necessary to protect rights or safety, or is needed to enforce our Terms of Service.

4.4 Business Transfers

If Fandoms is acquired, merges with another entity, or transfers substantially all its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a notice on the Platform before your data is subject to a materially different privacy policy.

4.5 No Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Stripe and Payment Processor Compliance

As a platform that enables creator monetisation, we are required to comply with Stripe's platform usage policies and applicable payment card network rules. This means:

  • We may share transaction data, creator identity details, and dispute evidence with Stripe to satisfy their Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations.
  • Stripe may independently investigate suspicious transactions and may suspend or terminate payment processing for any account.
  • We retain transaction records for a minimum of 7 years as required by applicable financial regulations.
  • Chargebacks and disputes are handled in accordance with Stripe's dispute resolution processes. We may share relevant order data and communications with Stripe to respond to disputes.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, financial transaction records). Aggregated, anonymised data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection / Restriction — object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@fandoms.app. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at privacy@fandoms.app.

9. International Data Transfers

Fandoms is operated from the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US or other countries where our service providers operate. We rely on applicable legal mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA/UK users) to legitimise such transfers.

10. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures — including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive data, and restricted access controls — to protect your information. However, no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your account and notify us immediately at privacy@fandoms.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or an in-platform notice. Continued use of the Platform after a change is posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
